The Challenge

The original Douglas Fir flooring throughout this Islington kitchen and hallway had suffered from decades of heavy foot traffic, deep surface wear, scratches, staining and a tired, uneven appearance. Our challenge was to carefully restore the character of these beautiful period floorboards while preserving as much of the original timber as possible. Using professional dust-free sanding equipment and specialist finishing techniques, we removed years of damage, enhanced the natural grain and colour of the Douglas Fir, and transformed the floors into a bright, durable and elegant feature that complements the home’s traditional character.

Work Completed

  • Floor boards sanded
  • Final sand using 100 grit belts
  • Floor finished with a primer coat and 2 coats of commercial lacquer – Junckers

A fantastic transformation from tired, worn Douglas Fir floorboards to a beautifully restored finish. This was a labour-intensive project that demanded patience and precision, but the end result was well worth the effort. Our clients can now move into their home with floors that look as impressive as the rest of the property.
