Solid oak floor sanding London

Tired, worn or scratched solid oak floor? Our London specialists sand, repair and refinish solid oak and hardwood floors — restoring the deep, natural beauty of the timber.

Solid oak is the gold standard of wood flooring — a single, solid piece of hardwood that, unlike engineered boards or laminate, can be sanded back and refinished many times over its lifetime. That’s what makes a solid oak floor a genuine lifetime investment. Over the years the surface picks up scratches, dents, sun-fade and a tired, flat finish, but underneath the timber is as good as ever. We sand away the wear, carry out any repairs, and reseal the boards to bring back the rich grain and warmth that made you choose oak in the first place.

Staining, oiling and lacquering — the perfect finish for solid oak

  • Natural Oils – Penetrate deep into solid oak to enrich the grain and give a warm, natural, low-sheen look that’s easy to maintain and spot-repair.
  • Lacquer Finishes – A tough, wipe-clean seal in matt, satin or gloss — ideal for busy family homes and commercial floors.
  • Staining & Colour – From light, contemporary tones to rich, dark browns, we can re-colour your oak to suit any interior.

What to expect from your solid oak floor restoration

  • First, we visit your property free of charge, measure up and assess the condition of the boards — checking for cupping, gaps, loose or damaged planks and any old finish that needs removing.
  • Second, you receive a clear written quote covering any repairs, sanding, staining and sealing, based on the size and condition of the floor. Competitive, transparent pricing with no surprises.
  • Third, before we arrive the room should be cleared of furniture and anything dust-sensitive such as curtains or rugs. Our sanders extract nearly all dust, but a little is unavoidable — and sanding is noisy, so it’s worth warning the neighbours. We can lift and remove old carpet for a small charge (from £35 per room).
  • Fourth, we carry out any repairs and gap filling, then sand progressively from coarse to fine grits for a perfectly flat, even surface — solid oak takes a full deep sand beautifully.
  • Fifth, we apply your chosen stain, oil or lacquer, and walk you through how to look after it. Most solid oak floors can be walked on the same evening and furnished within a day or two.
