Whitewashing is the perfect way to lighten a wood floor and give a room a fresh, airy, Scandi-inspired feel. Whether you have pine floorboards, herringbone parquet or solid oak, we use Bona white primer to soften the colour and tone down orange or yellow tones, then seal it with a hard-wearing clear lacquer. Our experienced team whitewashes and finishes floors across London and the surrounding areas for a beautiful, pale, long-lasting result.

We use Bona white primer – one or two coats – to lighten floorboards, parquet and oak, then seal it all with a hard-wearing clear lacquer.
- Floorboards – One coat of Bona white primer gently lightens pine and softwood boards while keeping the natural grain.
- Parquet Floors – One or two coats even out the tone across herringbone and block parquet for a bright, uniform look.
- Oak Floors – Two coats of Bona white primer really lift the colour of oak, taming yellow and orange tones.
- Sealed with Clear Lacquer – We finish every whitewashed floor with a hard-wearing clear lacquer to lock in the pale colour and protect it.
How to prepare for your floor whitewashing?
First, we visit your property to assess the floor and, where possible, apply whitewash sample patches so you can see how light it will go. Next, we sand the floor back to bare wood, so the primer takes evenly and the grain shows through. We then apply one or two coats of Bona white primer to lighten the floor to your chosen tone, before sealing it with a hard-wearing clear lacquer. Finally, we clean up and leave you with a bright, pale, hard-wearing floor ready to enjoy.
